The Lyric device is placed deep within the ear canal by our experienced Lyric trained audiologists and is just 12mm long and sits just 4mm from your ear drum, using the natural properties of your ear’s anatomy so you hear the way your ears are designed to.

Because it can be worn all day and night it lets you live your life without constraints including while showering or exercising. In fact, people who wear Lyric say they feel like they no longer are wearing a hearing aid!

Lyric has also proven to be very successful with tinnitus management. The reason for this is the fact that Lyric provides continuous 24/7 amplification thereby providing continuous relief for individuals suffering from tinnitus due to hearing loss.

Receiver-in-the-canal (RIC) Bluetooth hearing aids

Receiver-in-the-ear (RITE) and receiver-in-the-canal (RIC) are similar to open-fit behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids.

The part of the hearing aid which is positioned behind the ear is smaller than traditional behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids and the microphones are strategically placed on this part of the hearing aid. The body of the hearing aid has a thin wire that connects to a receiver inside the opening of the ear.

RITE and RIC hearing aids are also less visible than BTE hearing aids.

Hearing aid solutions for single-sided hearing loss –The CROS and BiCROS

Phonak’s CROS wireless device enables individuals with Single-Sided Deafness (SSD) to follow conversations from wherever they come from. The CROS system can be used when there is normal hearing in the one ear and a severe or total loss of hearing in the other ear. In this case the device worn in the better ear acts merely as a microphone. The device worn on the poorer ear is a transmitter, This is known as a CROS system.

When there is a mild to moderate hearing loss in the better ear and a total hearing loss in the worse ear, a BiCROS system is used. In this case the device in the better ear is a hearing aid and is programmed according to the hearing test results. The transmitter on the poorer ear sends the signal over to the better ear (hearing aid) and amplifies it.

CROS systems use the better ear’s hearing to hear on both sides. CROS users report better speech understanding in noise as well as a better sense of surround sound and improved localization.

Left untreated, single-sided deafness can lead to increased stress and anxiety for clients, and a decrease in social interaction, due to difficulty in following conversations and navigating their surroundings.
